I had been having problems lately and got a notice that my Airave model was being discontinued and a new one would be available. Sprint does have to activate a phone number for it. You plug it into your modem and do a few other things to it, and off you go. Of course my home is also my office so 5 years ago when I moved here and found out I sounded like I was underwater to anyone who called, Sprint gave me an Airave (pronounced Air Rave) which is basically my own little cell tower in my home.
